L-M20 FOUND IN SWATIS

The news is that the presence of Y-DNA Haplogroup L-M20 has been confirmed among Swatis....according to a test done by a friend from the Bijori sept, of Baffa, Mansehra.

Haplogroup L is an ancient native Indian group, associated with the aboriginal Indus Valley Civilisation (IVC). By extension, it is also associated with ancient Elam, a civilisation which preceded Aryan domination in Persia -- and also became its basis.

Here the variant L-M20 is found widely in Gujjars...and in prominent Khan families of the Saddozai Abdalis/ Durranis, and among Yusufzai and Mandanr Khans -- it shows the mixing into the old Parthian Afghans of later Rajput-Gujjar "Sarabani" (Surya Vanshi) influences during the Kabulshahi-Hindushahi period.....

It is found among Tajiks too. L-M20 in particular, originated in the Pamir Knot area.

As a paper says (Haber, M. et al -- 2012):

"MDS and Barrier analysis have identified a significant affinity between Pashtun, Tajik, North Indian, and Western Indian populations, creating an Afghan-Indian population structure that excludes the Hazaras, Uzbeks, and the South Indian Dravidian speakers. In addition, gene flow to Afghanistan from India marked by Indian lineages, L-M20, H-M69, and R2a-M124, also seems to mostly involve Pashtuns and Tajiks. This genetic affinity and gene flow suggests interactions that could have existed since at least the establishment of the region's first civilizations at the Indus Valley and the Bactria-Margiana Archaeological Complex."
